HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' SWIMMING.& DIVING: CORNING WINS TITLE AT WAVERLY INVITE (2024-09-08)
Southern Tier Sports ReportWAVERLY — The Corning Hawks claimed the team title at the Waverly Invitational on Saturday, while Notre Dame took seventh.
The Hawks had a team score of 375, followed by Maine-Endwell at 360.5. Notre Dame was seventh at 105.
In the 200 medley relay Corning’s team of Nicole Miller, Alexys Nale, Alyssa Reimsnyder and Maria Kuksenkova took second in 2:01.33. Notre Dame’s Charlotte Welliver, Leah Gonzalez, Hannah Gonzalez and Alexis Collins finished sixth in 2:17.54.
Devin Price of Corning won the 200 free in 2:11.84 and teammate Ellie Ballard was fifth in 2:23.25. Corning’s Kelsey McCarthy was eighth in 2:29.97 followed by teammate Brooklyn Gordon in 2:34.31.
Nale was second in the 200 IM in 2:26.68 with teammate Reese Conway eighth in 2:46.01 followed by Corning’s Lauren Mahon (2:46.61).
Kuksenkova was eighth in the 50 free in 27.64 with Reimsnyder 10th in 28.69.
Reimsnyder was fourth in the 100 fly in 1:11.09 and Price was sixth in 1:11.91. Miller was eighth in 1:17.51.
Kuksenkova was fourth in the 100 free in 1:01.00 with Gordon ninth in 1:09.66.
Leah Gonzalez was second for Notre Dame in the 500 free in 6:10.38 and in the 200 free relay Corning’s Price, Kuksenkova, Reimsnyder and Nale took second in 1:48.69. Hannah and Leah Gonzalez, Isabella Mashewske and Ella Cain took fifth in 2:06.58.
Conway was second in the 100 backstroke in 1:10.18 followed by Miller in 1:11. Morgan Dahlman of Corning was sixth in 1:14.18.
Nale won the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.58 and Mahon was 10th in 1:28.40 followed by Leah Gonzalez of Notre Dame in 1:28.56.
Price, Ballard, Conway and Miller took third in the 400 free relay in 4:17l.25.
Corning’s Cella McLaughlin was fourth in the diving at 404.90 followed by Nicole Gaskievicz (333.55) and Wendy Lynch (320.15).
