APALACHIN — The Eyota Nation 18u competed in the Eyota Nation 18u Softball Tournament at Muth Park over the weekend, taking second.

Edison’s Gabby Milazzo and Kailey Ripley are both part of the Eyota Nation team.

Eyota fell in the title game 7-3 to NY Titans Gold. Eyota had been 3-0 on Saturday and then went 1-1 on Sunday.

Eyota Nation 5, The Dawgs 1
Eyota gave up a run in the top of the first inning, then shut The Dawgs down.

Walks to Abby Foley and Cassidy Will, a sacrifice bunt by Gabby Foley, and an RBI single from Raegan Sudnikovich knotted the score in the home half of the inning.

In the second, Austyn Vance and Saylor Ayers wrapped base hits around an out, then Kailey Ripley belted a run-scoring double to center field to put Eyota in front.

A single by Abby Foley, followed by errors off the bats of Will and Gabby Foley made it a 3-1 game in the third. Sudnikovich would draw a base on balls, then The Dawgs would get another out, but Gabby Milazzo’s ground ball up the middle plated Will and Gabby Foley for a 5-1 advantage.

Ayers was the only Eyota batter with multiple hits, going 2-for-2. Abby Foley had a hit and two runs; Milazzo had a hit and two RBI; Sudnikovich and Ripley added one hit and one RBI apiece; Gabby Foley chipped in with a run and an RBI; Vance had a hit and a run; and Will tacked on a run.

Milazzo took the win, giving up one unearned run on five hits while striking out five.

NY Titans Gold 7, Eyota Nation 3

Eyota fell into a hole early and was unable to climb back from 5-0 and 7-1 deficits.

The Titans got on the board in the top of the first, wrapping a pair of singles around a sacrifice bunt, then took advantage of a Payton Yahner home run and doubles from Gianna Harrington and Alessandra Carter to make it 4-0 in the second.

They added another run in the third, then made it 7-1 in the fourth with two more scores.

Eyota tried to get back in the game in the third, but managed to push just one run across. Ayers, Ripley and MJ Thetga delivered consecutive singles to load the bases and Paige Will plated a run with a one-out single.

The Titans erased two runners on force outs at home following infield grounders and pitcher Reilly Storer struck out another to get out of the inning with minimal damage.

Ayers singled and scored on a Ripley double in the fifth, then the Titans switched pitchers and picked up a ground out and double play to end the inning.

Eyota managed just one run in the seventh as Sudnikovich walked, moved to third on ground outs by Vance and Milazzo, and scored on an Ayers single.

Ayers enjoyed a 3-for-3 performance at the plate with a run and an RBI; and Ripley was 2-for-3 with a run and RBI. Sudnikovich contributed a hit and a run; Paige Will added a hit and an RBI; and Thetga had a hit.

Ripley scattered 10 hits and two walks while fanning four batters. Only three Titan runs were earned due to a rare five-error day by the Eyota defense.

Reilly Storer picked up the win, allowing seven hits while striking out four. Yahner gave up one hit and two walks, and registered one strikeout.
