COLLEGE WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD: CORNING'S BUTLER TAKES 7TH AT NATIONALS TO BECOME FIRST-TEAM ALL-AMERICAN FOR 5TH TIME (2024-06-10)

Corning graduate Lindsey Butler wrapped up her collegiate career with her fifth first0team All-American honor as she took seventh in the 1500 meters at the NCAA Championships on Saturday.

Butler finished with a time of 4:09.85. The Corning graduate led the race through the first 700 meters, before falling toward the end of the pack. In the final 100 meters she went to the outside lane and made a last effort to get into seventh.

Butler qualified for the finals running a 4:08.31 in the prelims.

Butler leaves Virginia tech as a five-time first team All-American and she made seven career appearances at the NCAA Championships. Her career is highlighted by a national title in the 800 meters at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Butler holds the school records in the 800 (2:01.23), 1000 (2:41), mile (4:31.41), distance medley relay (10:52.51) and outdoor 1500 (4:07.96).

Butler returns to the track at Eugene, Oregon on June 21-30 for the U.S. Olympic Trials.
