HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: HORSEHEADS PICKS UP 3RD WIN OF SEASON OVER ELMIRA (2024-05-17)
Southern Tier Sports ReportELMIRA — The Horseheads softball team scored four runs in the third inning on their way to a 8-2 win over Elmira on Thursday afternoon.
Elmira led 1-0 after one inning, before Horseheads scored four in the third and two more in the fourth on their way to the win.
Megan Wolf had three hits and scored two runs and Aubrey Howe and Caitlin Yearick each had two hits in the game. Howe had a double and three RBI and Yearick had two RBI and a run scored.
Sophia Bonnell, Olivia French, Cronin and Griffith each had hits for Horseheads. Bonnell and French each scored two runs, Grace Cronin had an RBI and Aubrey Griffith scored a run.
Chloe Perritt went the complete game on the mound, striking out seven and allowing seven hits and two runs, one earned.
Lily Cornacchio had two hits for Elmira, with two runs scored and Addison Taft, Marley Devlin, Hayden Pierce, Addisyn Chorney and Ava Cornacchio all had hits in the game.
Taft and Pierce had RBI in the game.
Devlin went four innings, striking out two for Elmira and Ava Cornacchio worked three innings with five strikeouts.
