HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' TRACK AND FIELD: CORNING CAPTURES STAC CHAMPIONSHIP (24 PHOTOS) (2024-05-16)

JOHNSON CITY — The Corning girls captured the team title at the STAC Championships on Wednesday, racking up a team score of 123.5.

Horseheads was sixth at 44 points and Elmira was 14th at eight points.

Corning’s Lauren Roche was second in the 3000 in 10:54.15 followed by teammate Olivia Martinec in 11:03.64. Madelyn Wise of Elmira was seventh in 11:55.91 followed by Horseheads’ Sophia Jones in 12:21.54.

In the 1600 relay Corning was second in 4:14.19 followed by Horseheads in 4:16.77.

Sophia Cimo of Corning was second in the discus at 111-feet, 7-inches.

Reese Conway of Corning was tied for sixht in the pole vault at 8-feet with Emma Mase tied for eighth at 7-feet.

Horseheads’ Isabella Rivera was fourth in the shot put at 30-feet, 5 1/4-inches.

Elly Bachert of Horseheads was second in the long jump at 15-feet, 10 1/2-inches with Zalayna Brown of Elmira fourth at 15-feet, 6 1/4-inches. Mase was 10th at 14-feet, 6 1/4-inches.

Shyanne Roney was third in the high jump at 5-feet and teammate Madie Sweet was eighth at 4-feet, 6-inches.

Alexus Borek of Horseheads was third in the triple jump at 33-feet, 4 1/2-inches followed by teammate Andrea Benjamin at 32-feet, 6 1/4-inches and Corning’s Amanda McEwen at 32-feet, 5 1/2-inches. Elmira’s Naudia Inness was eighth at 29-feet, 6-inches.

Corning’s Olivia Murch won the 2000 steeplechase in 7:32.30 followed by teammate Meghan McLaughlin in 8:06.90. Horseheads’ Grace Wilson was eighth at 9:08.20.

Cella McLaughlin of Corning won the 100 hurdles in 15.42 and Erica Bancroft of Horseheads was sixth in 17.37 followed by Brown in 17.53. Chinonyerem Okoro of Corning was ninth in 18.59.

Corning was second in the 3200 relay in 10:07.03. Horseheads was seventh in 12:56.80.

Elmira’s Makayla Robicheaux was fifth in the 100 in 13.29 followed by Mase in 13.52. Horseheads’ Mylynn Flint was 10th in 13.68.

Sarah Lawson of Corning was second in the 1500 in 4:38.91 followed by teammate Sadie Beres in 4:56.89.

Horseheads was fourth in the 400 relay in 52.89 and Elmira was sixth in 53.56 followed by Corning in 54.26.

Elianna Schneider of Corning was third in the 400 in 1:04.55 and teammate Laina Gardner was fifth in 1:05.30. Krislynn Dubuque of Horseheads was ninth in 1:06.77.

In the 400 hurdles Borek won in 1:05.77 and Corning’s Leila Ianovici was third in 1:10.23 with Jordan Gridley of Corning fifth in 1:13.75. Stella Harrison of Horseheads was 10th in 1:19.20.

Faith Tubbs of Corning was second in the 800 in 2:22.83 and teammate Ella Grinnell was fifth in 2:29.71. Horseheads’ Cecilia Cowen was sixth in 2:35.37 and Joanna Benjamin of Horseheads was ninth in 2:39.26.

Cella McLaughlin was second in the 200 in 26.22 and Robicheaux was sixth in 27.86.
