HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: HORSEHEADS GOES 1-1 AT MORABITO TOURNEY (2024-05-04)

BINGHAMTON — The Horseheads softball team went 1-1 on the day at the Morabito Tournament at Greenlight Park.

Horseheads fell to St. Mary’s Lancaster 11-1 to start the day and then beat Cicero-North Syracuse 8-4 in the consolation bracket.

The Blue Raiders got two hits from Megan Wolf against St. Mary’s and Caitlin Yearick had a double, while Sophia Bonnell, Raegan Burge, Chloe Perritt and Maddie Ribble all had hits.

Wolf scored the team’s run and Perritt had an RBI.

Wolf went the distance on the mound, striking out four.

Against Cicero the Blue Raiders trailed 3-1 after two innings, but scored three in the third, two in the fourth and a run each in the fifth and sixth innings.

Wolf, Bonnell and Yearick all had three hits for Horseheads.

Yearick had a triple, six RBI and a run scored and Bonnell scored two runs, while Wolf scored three runs.

Ribble had a double and a triple, an RBI and a run scored and Olivia French had two hits.

Perritt and Kailey McCormick each had hits in the game. Perritt had an RBI and McCormick scored a run.

Perritt pitched the complete game, striking out five.
