HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: ELMIRA TOPS EDISON AS THEY GO 1-1 AT MARY TESTA TOURNEY (13 PHOTOS) (2024-04-28)
Southern Tier Sports ReportBINGHAMTON — The Elmira softball team went 1-1 on the day at the Mary Testa Tournament at Greenlights Grand Slam Park on Saturday.
The Express beat Edison 5-1 and then fell to Susquehanna Valley 19-6.
Against Edison the Express got a four-hitter from Ava Cornacchio on the mound, striking out two.
Lily Cornacchio was 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored and Ava Sherman, Addison Taft and Ava Cornacchio all had two hits in the game.
Sherman scored two runs and Taft had a double, an RBI and two runs scored.
Ryleigh Ogden had a triple adn two RBI and Annabelle Decker had a double.
Addisyn Chorney had a hit and an RBI and Aleida Agosto had a hit.
Edison got two hits from Gabby Milazzo and Aurora Parlo had a hit and an RBI, while Mariana Jones-Frosolone had a double.
Milazzo struck out four on the mound.
Against Susquehanna Valley Elmira led 6-3 after four, but SV scored four in the fifth, four in the sixth and eighth in the seventh.
Sherman was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored and Ava Cornacchio had a hit and three RBI and Decker had a double and scored a run, while Lily Cornacchio had a double, two RBI and a run scored.
Hailey Greene had a hit and scored a run.
Agosto struck out one in 3 1/3 innings and Ava Cornacchio struck out two in two innings. Payton Johnson worked an inning and Taft got two outs.
