CORNING — The Corning Community College softball team swept a doubleheader from Monroe Community College recently, winning 4-0 and 19-2.

CCC has won six straight games and are 19-11 on the year.

In the first game against MCC Jenna Plue, an Ithaca grad, threw a two-hitter, striking out 17. Brianna Greenlaw was 2-for-2 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

Edison grad Maliyah McIver had a hit and scored a run.

In the second game Notre Dame graduate Olivia Switzerland threw a five-hitter, striking out four.

Greenlaw had two home runs, with six RBI, McIver and Caroline Courson had home runs in the game.

McIver was 3-for-5 with five RBI and two runs scored and Elmira grad Mackenzie Fusare had a hit and an RBI.

Greenlaw leads CCC with a .474average the year and eight home runs, with 13 doubles, three triples and 47 RBI.

McIver is hitting .359 this year with five home runs, two triples, six doubles, 28 runs and 23 RBI.

Corning grad Maddie Dibble has two RBI, a double and two hits this year, with three runs scored.

Switzer has pitched in six games, with 26 innings pitched. She has a team-best .81 ERA and 32 strikeouts against just five walks. She’s allowed just 12 hits this year.

Plus leads the pitching staff with 93 1/3 innings, striking out 184 with a 1.73 ERA.
