STSR PRESENTS THE DRAKE HVAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: HORSEHEADS' BALL AND CORNING'S SULLIVAN (2024-04-25)

Southern Tier Sports Report
There were a lot of great performances this week, leading to some tough choices for the first athlete of the week honors of the season. In the end, it was Corning’s Peyton Sullivan and Horseheads’ Cooper Ball who were named the Southern Tier Sports Report, sponsored by Drake HVAC Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning Athletes of the Week.

PEYTON SULLIVAN
Corning, softball
Had a big week at the plate, and on the mound for the Corning Hawks as they went 4-0 last week.

At the plate Sullivan was 8-for-12 with three home runs, two doubles, a triple, 11 RBI and nine runs scored.

She also pitched 12 2/3 innings, allowing three hits and striking out 21 on the week.

Sullivan had a home run, four RBI and three runs scored, with a double, in a win over Horseheads, then had two home runs in a win over Williamson, with four RBI and two runs scored.

She was 3-for-3 with two RBI, three runs scored, a double and a triple against Binghamton and she had a hit, an RBI and a run scored against Johnson City.


COOPER BALL

Ball was 8-for-13 with a home run, a double, three runs scored and five RBI on the week.

The freshman hit an inside the park home run and get two hits against Corning and then he was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored against Corning on the road.

He also threw 5 2/3 innings in a 6-1 win over Corning, striking out six and allowing one run.
