HIGH SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD: CORNING FINDS SUCCESS AT WEBSTER INVITE (2024-04-24)

WEBSTER —It was a strong showing for Corning athletes at the Webster Invtational over the weekend.

Corning’s DJ Cornfield won the 1600 in 4:28.65 and Sebastian Boutwell was 11th in 4:57.53.

Charles Warner was eighth in the 3200 in 10:23.52 and Samuel Kirk was 18th in 11:08.24.

Connor Catkins was 18th in the 110 hurdles in 20.83.

In the 400 hurdles final Calkins was 16th in 1:10.95.

Aidan Kahabka was fourth in the 3000 steeplechase in 10:35.84 and Ashtyn Stark was 19th in 12:28.21.

Corning was 12th in the 4x100 relay in 48.17. The Hawks took fifth in the 1600 relay in 3:43 and they were third in the 3200 relay in 8:50.68.

Nicholas Brucie was eighth in the boys’ 100 in 11.75 and Zuri Ruffin was third in the 200 in 23.67 with Alex Kolpien 15th in 25.19.

Dexter Badger was 11th in the 400 in 55.13 and Luke Mertus was 18th in 56.91.

Jaxyn Mahoney was fourth in the 800 in 2:02.57 and Gregory HOma was ninth in 2:07.62.

Ruffin was fourth in the long jump at 20-feet, 2-inches.

Samuel Segal was 20th in the triple jump at 34-feet.

Nathaniel Jennings was fifth in the pole vault at 11-feet.

Freddie Collins was 15th in the discus at 109-feet, 3-inches with Logan Mullaney 19th at 106-feet, 6-inches.

Spencer Hayes was 17th in the shot put at 35-feet, 5 1/2-inches followed by Collins at 35-feet, 1 1/4-inches.

In the 1500 meter run for the pentathlon Dylan Rose was third in 5:14.88 and Reilly Wells was next in 5:22.25.

Rose was third in the 110 hurdles for the pentathlon in 16.89 and Wells was 18th in 20.38.

Rose won the high jump portion of the pentathlon at 5-feet, 10 3/4-inches with Wells tied for fourth at 5-feet, 1 1/2-inches.

In the long jump portion Wells was fifth at 17-feet, 10 1/2-inches and Rose was 12th at 16-feet, 8-inches.

Wells was 17th in the shot put portion at 25-feet, 9 1/2-inches.

Rose finished second overall at 2,448 and Wells was eighth at 2,021.

For the girls Emma Mase was 19th in the 200 in 29.26 and Laina Gardner was 13th in the 400 in 1:07.42.

Faith Tubbs won the 800 for the Hawks in 2:23.83 with Ella Grinnell fourth in 2:28.92.

Sarah Lawson won the 1500 in 4:53.39. Olivia Martinec was fourth in 5:15.95.

Lauren Roche was fifth in the 3000 in 11:20.27 and Sofia Scouten was 14th in 12:28.65.

In the 100 hurdles Chinonyerem Okra was 18th in 19.47.

Leila Ianovici was third in the 400 hurdles in 1:13.19 and Okoro was 11th in 1:19.21.

Sadie Beres was second in the 2000 steeplechase in 7:33.42. Olivia Murch was fourth in 8:16.58.

Corning won the 1600 relay in 4:24.30 and took third in the 3200 relay in 10:45.09.

Made Sweet was 10th in the high jump at 4-feet, 6-inches and Okoro was 12th at the same height.

Lauren Williams was 20th in the pole vault at 5-feet, 6-inches.

Sophia Cimo was fourth in the discus at 99-feet, 6-inches and she was fourth in the shot at 31-feet, 4 3/4-inches, while Samantha Harvey was 16th at 26-feet, 11-inches.

In the pentathlon girls’ 800 Shyanne Roney was seventh in 2:48.38 and Hadley Murray was 13th in 3:03.29.

Roney was fifth in the 100 hurdles portion of the pentathlon in 18.26 and Murray was 17th in 21.94.

Roney won the high jump portion at 4-feet, 9 3/4-inches and Murray was tied for ninth at 4-feet, 1/2-inches.

Roney was sixth in the long jump portion at 15-feet, 3-inches and Murray was ninth at 14-feet, 10 3/4-inches.

Roney took sixth in the shot put portion at 23-feet, 1 1/2-inches with Murray 10th at 20-feet, 7 1/4-inches.

Roney took third overall in the pentathlon at 2,341 with Murray 13th at 1,563.
