HIGH SCHOOL BOYS' LACROSSE: NOTRE DAME WINS HARD-FOUGHT GAME OVER OWEGO (13 PHOTOS) (2024-04-22)

OWEGO — The Notre Dame boys’ lacrosse team won a hard-fought 9-8 game over Owego on Monday afternoon.

“Once again the team pulled it together and played a solid 48 minutes of lacrosse,” Notre Dame coach Geoff Crossley said. “This was a battle from the start with us taking a 3 to 1 lead after the first quarter. We payed a solid second quarter scoring four more and went into the half with a 7-5 lead.

“Owego came out strong and scored in the first minute into the third to pull within one at 7-6. We then scored the next two goals to end the third quarter up 9-6. Owego scored again to start the fourth and made it a two-goal game.”

For the Crusaders it was a balanced effort all game.

“Our defense was lights out and kept them from scoring for the next eight minutes,” Crossley said. “Owego scored with just under two minutes to go to make it a 9-8 game. Kevin Green was amazing at the face-off all night and was able to win another to help run the clock out and secure the win for Notre Dame.”

Dylan Mattoon had 20 saves in goal, and eight of those came in the final quarter.
