HIGH SCHOOL BOYS' LACROSSE: HORSEHEADS PICKS UP 9-8 WIN OVER ITHACA (2024-04-22)

ITHACA — The Horseheads boys’ lacrosse team went on the road and came away with a 9-8 win over the Little Red on Monday night.

Horseheads led 3-2 after one quarter and then the teams scored the same number of goals each of the next three quarters.

“It’s a battle every time we play Ithaca,” Horseheads coach Jason Neubauer said. “I’m proud of the boys playing to the end, and regaining the lead late in the game. These one goal games will hopefully be something we can use to get better.”

Zach Lese and Griffin Stevens each had three goals in the game.

Adam Nielsen, Cody Dale, Colton Cox and Braden Woodworth each had goals in the game.

Andrew Potter had 10 saves in goal for Horseheads and Griffin Stevens was 6-for-15 on face-offs.

Charles Preheim had two goals and two assists for Ithaca and Owen Simons had two goals and an assist.

Hewitt Gao had a goal and an assist and Leland Walker, Lee Milton and Wilson Preheim each had goals.

Ryan Hughes had seven saves for Ithaca and Quentin Getzin was 13-for-19 on face-offs.

Horseheads is at Binghamton on Wednesday.
