HIGH SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD: LOCALS FIND SUCCESS AT SQUARE DEAL INVITE (2024-04-20)

VESTAL — Local athletes found success at the Square Deal Invitational on Saturday morning.

The Horseheads boys took fifth at 57 points, while Elmira was 14th at 18 points. Ithaca won at 107.

For the girls Horseheads was 15th at 21 points and Elmira was 17th at 16.

Ryan Anderson of Horseheads won the 200 in 22.99 with teammate Chas Luangsuwan fourth in 23.37. Elmira’s Ta’hjay Molina-Bacome was 10th in 24.17 with teammate Darius Hubbard 12th in 24.47.

Cecilia Cowen of Horseheads was seventh in the girls’ 800 in 2:41.65 and teammate Joanna Benjamin was 16th in 2:55.83.

Nathan Zhou of Horseheads was fourth in the boys’ 800 in 2:07.34 and teammate Max Williams was ninth in 2:12.11.

Tabitha Oakes was 10th in the girls’ 3000 in 13:46.21 and in the boys’ 3200 Nicholas Kowal was third in 10:22.87. Horseheads’ Drake Ernst was eighth in 11:25.95.

Horseheads took fourth in the boys’ 1600 relay in 3:45.49 with Elmira eighth in 3:57.56.

Zalayna Brown of Elmira was second in the long jump at 16-feet, 1-inch. Nasir Bradford of Elmira was third in the boys’ long jump at 20-feet, 6-inches.

Naudia Inness of Elmira was 14th in the triple jump at 27-feet, 4-inches and in the shot put Horseheads’ Isabella Rivera was fourth at 30-feet, 4 1/4-inches, while Elmira’s Verneece Sumner finished 13th at 25-feet, 1-inch.

Joey Biviano of Horseheads was ninth in the boys’ shot put at 35-feet, 8 1/2-inches, while Elmira’s Jace Thomas Barr was 19th at 30-feet, 1 3/4-inches.

Biviano was 11th in the boys’ discus at 91-feet, 8-inches and in the girls’ discus Elmira’s Alivia Perez-Fulmer was 15th at 63-feet, 11-inches followed by Horseheads’ Brianna Giblin (62-feet, 9-inches).

In the girls’ pentathlon Horseheads’ Alexus Borek was third at 2047 points.

Elmira’s Brown took fourth in the 100 hurdles in 18.09 and Sophie Shutter of Horseheads was 10th at 18.98.

Jiven Mann of Elmira was sixth in the 110 hurdles in 17.32 and Horseheads’ Nolan Cruise was 11th at 18.99.

Horseheads took fourth in the girls’ 3200 relay in 11:17.90 and in the boys’ 4x100 relay Elmira was fourth at 46.36. Horseheads took 10th in the 400 relay in 47.10.

Elmira was seventh in the girls 4x100 relay in 57.04 with Horseheads fifth in the prelims in 54.45.

Horseheads boys took fourth in the 3200 relay in 9:17.36.

Mylynn Flint of Horseheads was ninth in the 100 in 13.77.

Luangsuwan was third in the 100 meters for the boys in 11.29 and Elmira’s DJ Corprew was sixth in 11.53. Chris Thomas of Horseheads was 17th in 11.98.

Stella Harrison of Horseheads was 11th in the 2000 steeplechase in 10:14.90 and for the boys in the 3000 steeplechase Horseheads’ Dominick Marino was 10th in 12:16.79.

In the girls’ 1500 meters Elmira’s Madelyn Wise was 12th in 5:34.76. Horseheads’ Sophia Jones was 15th in 5:45.43 and teammate Grace Wilson was 18th in 6:07.89 and Mariah Faucett of Elmira was 20th in 6:17.84.

Sophie Shutter of Horseheads was sixth in the 400 in 1:06.38 and Elmira’s Makayla Robicheaux was eighth in 1:07.15. Horseheads’ Alanna Stillman was 19th at 1:11.56.

Horseheads’ Kiran Gulati was fourth in the 1600 in 4:43.55 and Samir Gulati was seventh in 4:50.33 and Elmira’s Nicholas Bowes was 19th in 5:25.36 followed by teammate Duane Nichols in 5:25.65.

Matt Mucci of Horseheads was fifth in the 400 in 54.08 and Elmira’s Braxton Houghtelling was 15th in 57.62 with teammate Javare Allen 18th in 57.84.

Horseheads’ Harrison was 11th in the 400 hurdles in 1:25.43 and in the boys’ 400 hurdles Cruise was 15th in 1:09.07.
