HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: JOHNSTON HAS CAREER GAME AS CORNING TOPS BINGHAMTON (2024-04-18)
Southern Tier Sports ReportBINGHAMTON — Matti Johnston hit two home runs and a triple and had seven RBI as the Corning softball team beat Binghamton 22-0.
Corning scored multiple runs in every inning of the win.
Johnston was 3-for-3 with seven RBI, a triple and two home runs and scored five runs in the game.
Peyton Sullivan was 3-for-3 with a double and triple, two RBI and three runs scored and Emelia Smith had two hits and scored three runs.
Caitlyn Harrison, Daphne Sherman, Kayleigh Sparks, Schooner and Jade Cook all had hits for Corning in the game. Harrison had a double, an RBI and a run scored and Sherman had three RBI and a run scored.
Sparks had an RBI and scored two runs and Sophie Schoonover and Cook each scored two runs.
Sophia Polzella had an RBI and scored two runs and Kendall Curreri scored a run.
Caitlyn Schack, Maddie Payne and Sydney Layton each had RBI in the game.
Sullivan worked two perfect innings, striking out two. Johnston worked two innings, allowing a hit and a walk, all six of the outs she recorded were by strikeout. Smith worked one inning, allowing a hit and all three outs she recorded were by strikeout.
