HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: SMITH FIRES ONE-HITTER AS ELMIRA TOPS BINGHAMTON (2024-04-16)

ELMIRA — Madison Smith threw a one-hitter and the Elmira softball team beat Binghamton 14-0 on Monday afternoon.

Smith struck out 12 in the five-inning shutout.

Elmira scored four in the second, two in the third and eight in the fourth inning.

Kae Thomas, Ava Sherman, Addison Taft and Lily Cornacchio all had two hits for Elmira in the game. Cornacchio had a triple and Sherman had a double.

Thomas had a run sco0red and two RBI, Sherman had two RBI, Taft had an RBI and scored two runs and Cornacchio scored three runs.

Hailey Greene had a triple, an RBI and a run scored and Smith had a double, two RBI and a run scored.

Aleida Agosto, Ryleigh Ogden and Addisyn Chorney all had hits for Elmira. Ogden had an RBI and two runs scored and Chorney had an RBI and two runs scored.

Ava Cornacchio scored a run in the game.
