Southern Tier Sports ReportHORSEHEADS, N.Y. – A single off the bat of Gabe Fellows '25 in the bottom of the ninth inning of game two helped the Elmira College baseball program record a doubleheader split against the Keuka College Wolves on Saturday in Empire 8 Conference action.
Notre Dame graduate Erik Charnetski was 2-for-3 with a home run and three runs scored in game two for Elmira College. He scored a run in the first game.
Horseheads graduate Ian Ruhmel scored a run in the first game for Keuka and he started both games.

HOW IT HAPPENED: • In game one of the twin bill, Keuka scored a run in the second, third, and fourth innings to take a 3-0 lead against the Soaring Eagles.
• Gabe Fellows '25 would get EC onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring single that would allow Connor Stone '26 to score and trim the deficit to 3-1.
• The Wolves answered with three runs in the top of the fifth inning to stretch their lead to 6-1 as a two-run home run highlighted the frame for Keuka.
• Elmira looked to rally late in the contest as the Purple & Gold produced a run in the bottom of the fifth inning with Erik Charnetski '24 scoring from second following a wild pitch and a throwing error by Keuka.
• Keuka would work around a pair of Elmira runners on base in the bottom of the seventh inning with a trio of strikeouts to secure the 6-2 victory in the opening contest.
• Game two would see Keuka open the scoring in the top of the fourth inning following a double into right field along with an error by the Soaring Eagles to make it 1-0.
• The Soaring Eagles rallied to knot the score 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning with a solo home run from Charnetski followed by a wild pitch that brought home Nathan Ofalt '26.
• A three-run bottom of the seventh inning allowed the Purple & Gold to take a 5-2 advantage against the Wolves as an infield groundout from Chris Jones '25 made it 3-2.
• Matteo Salvati '25 scored from third later in the frame thanks to a wild pitch to make it 4-2 before Fellows added the first of his two run-scoring singles in the contest to make it 5-2.
• Keuka tallied a run in the eighth inning and two more in the top of the ninth as the Wolves rallied to knot the score 5-5.
• With one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Purple & Gold worked three straight walks to load the bases for Fellows. A single through the left side of the infield would allow Charnetski to score and complete the 6-5 victory in game two.
UP NEXT:The Soaring Eagles travel to Misericordia University on April 2nd for a non-conference matchup beginning at 3:30 P.M.
