LOCALS SHINE AS GLEN GATORS SWIM TEAM FINDS SUCCESS AT GOLDS (2024-03-15)

The Glen Gators Swim Team participated in the 2024 Niagara District Open Championships (GOLDS) held at the Webster Aquatic Center from March 8-10.

The Glen Gators were represented by 15 athletes, including: Ali Mosher, Karina Lapierre, Emily Melveney, Sibby Lowe, Genevieve Carro, Mia Carro, Kendra Fish, James Fedele, Liam Smith, Thalia Marquez, Carson Thaete, Dillan Allyn-Nobles, Alice Clapp, Georgia Michel and Ryan Dean.

The team recorded over 40 personal bests, championship finalists and podium finish. The weekend was highlighted by the Glen Gators Open Girls 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relays: Melveney, Marquez, Lowe and Mia Carro qualified to compete at the Speedo Sectionals March 23-24 in Buffalo.

“I couldn’t be more proud of this group,” coach Jason Westervelt said. “They are very driven young men and women who will go on to do great things in the sport.”

Glen Gators Swim Team is a USA Sanctioned Competitive Swim Club located in Watkins Glen. It includes athletes from the surrounding Southern Tier, Finger Lakes and Northern Tier (Pa.) regions.
