HIGH SCHOOL INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD: HORSEHEADS RELAY HEADED TO STATES, WHILE GULATI WILL ALSO RUN INTERSECTIONAL RELAY (18 PHOTOS) (2024-02-26)
Southern Tier Sports ReportITHACA — Horseheads’ 4x200 relay won the title at the state qualifier at Cornell University to qualify for states, while Samir Gulati advances to states to run in the intersectional relay.
Gullet, Chase Luangsuwan, Bradock Salisbury and Ryan Anderson won the 4x200 relay for the Blue Raiders, while Gulati was third in the 600 to earn a spot in the intersectional relay.
Gulati ran a 1:26.78 in the 600. Teammate Matt Mucci was fifth in 1:27.65. Nathan Zhou was 15th in 1:34.20.
The relay won in 1:33.24, nearly a second ahead of runner-up Waverly.
Salisbury was fourth in the 55 meters in 6.56 and Luangsuwan was seventh in 6.75. Anderson was fifth in the 300 in 37.41.
Hunter Lewis was 21st in the 1000 in 3:04.42 followed by Jack Sydlansky in 3:05.92.
Kowal was 11th in the 3200 in 10:55.70 and Carlo Cipolla was fourth in the 55 hurdles in 8.36 with Nolan Cruise eighth at 8.65.
Horseheads finished fourth in the boys’ 3200 relay in 9:34.45 and Calvin Cradle was ninth in the shot put at 35-feet, 7-inches with Drue Welty 14th in the weight throw at 35-feet, 3-inches.
Emma Guzylak was 13th in the girls’ 300 in 47.16 and Olivia Hornsby was 20th in 50.95.
Cecilia Cowen was 10th in the 1000 meters in 3:28.84 and Suzanne Sydlansky was 17th in 3:34.77. Sydlansky was 19th in the 1500 in 5:51.70 with Cowen 22nd in 6:15.31.
Mackenzie Baker took fifth in the 3000 in 11:18.31.
Erica Bancroft was 13th in the 55 hurdles in 10.12 and in the 4x200 relay Horseheads was seventh in 1:58.90.
Bancroft was eighth in the triple jump at 31-feet, 9 1/4-inches and in the shot put Isabella Rivera was fifth at 31-feet, 11-inches. Rivera was fifth in the weight throw at 38-feet, 9-inches.
Stella Harrison was eighth in the 1500 race walk in 8:53.13.
