HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' BOWLING: ELMIRA'S SMITH, HINK QUALIFY FOR STATES (18 PHOTOS) (2024-02-23)

WAVERLY — Elmira’s Madison Smith and Abbi Hink each qualified for states at the Section IV Bowling State Qualifier on Friday.

Hink had the best overall series of the day, shooting 216-247-246-709 for the first three games. She then shot 184-180-213-577. With her sectional score (516) added in she shot 1,802 to finish in the top five overall and make states.

Smith shot 233-206-184-623 and 187-172-192-551. With her sectional score of 644 added in she shot 1,818 to take fourth overall.

As a team Elmira shot 7,909, taking second behind Union-Endicott at 7,977. Corning was third at 7,432 in Division I.

Other bowlers on Friday for Elmira were Bella Wood 162-182-201-545 and 153-190-192-535, with a 520 from sectionals for a 1,600.

Madison Wasicki shot 200-181-149-530 and 158-155-163-476 plus 468 from sectionals for a 1,474.

Kaubreanna Ervay shot 172-141-163-476 and 147-99-100-346, plus 393 from sectionals for a 1,215.

Corning got a 140-209-156-505 from Alexa VanAlstine, who shot 174-202-197-573 for the second three games, with her 569 from sectionals she shot 1,647.

Kylie Downing had a 1,628, shooting 170-175-173-518, 188-183-200-571 and a 539 from sectionals.

Jadyn O’Dell shot 199-172-146-517, 204-148-176-528 and a 545 from sectionals for a 1,590.

Zoe Harmer shot 134-173-169-476 and a 159-143-187-489 plus a 384 from sectionals for a 1,349.

Avianna Vangorder shot 157-149-174-480 and a 133-119-252 for two games plus a 276 from sectionals for a 1,008.

Ayden Hartford shot 100 from one game and a 110 from sectionals from one game for a 210.

Hink had the highest series, Smith’s 623 was second best and VanAlstine (5th), Downing (6th), Wood (8th), Wasicki (9th) and O’Dell (10th) had top 10 series.

Jennifer Mattison of Horseheads had the seventh best series among individuals not on teams at 548, followed by Maddie Jerzak at 540. Jerzak had the fourth highest game at 218 and Mattison had the seventh best game at 211.

Jerzak shot 1,590 overal 1,583 overall and Mattison shot 1,490. Mattison shot 149-148-174-471 and 201-211-136-548 plus a 471 from sectionals and Jerzak shot 169-179-160-508 and 146-218-176-540 plus a 535 from sectionals.
