HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' BOWLING: ELMIRA CLAIMS SECTION 4, CLASS A CHAMPIONSHIP (2024-02-17)
Southern Tier Sports ReportVESTAL — One day after the Elmira boys won the Class A sectional bowling title the girls followed suit on Saturday, capturing the championship.
The Elmira girls shot 828-866-847-2,541 followed by Corning at 777-818-828-2,423, Binghamton at 815, 700, 755, 2,270 and Horseheads 595, 603, 625, 1,823.
Madison Smith led Elmira with a 207-213-224-644 and Bella Wood shot 171-188-161-520, while Abbi Hink had a 167-188-161-516. Madison Wasicki shot 157-128-183-468 and Kaubreanna Ervay shot 126-149-118-393.
Alexa VanAlstine led Corning with a 151-246-172-569 and Jadyn O’Dell shot 150-160-235-545.
Kylie Downing had a 187-161-191-539 and Zoe Harmer had a 117-1147-120-384. Avianna Vangorder shot 172-104-276 for two games and Ayden Hartford shot 110 for one game.
Maddie Jerzak shot 193-167-175-535 for Horseheads and Jen Mattison shot 154-179-138-471 while Liv Rightmire shot 138-124-183-445 and Alex Cole had a 110-133-129-372.
