HIGH SCHOOL INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD: CORNING BOYS, GIRLS WIN RWTL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLES (24 PHOTOS) (February 13, 2024)
Southern Tier Sports Report The Corning boys and girls each won the titles for Division I at the RWTL Championships at Nazareth University.
The girls had a team score of 247, with Livonia/Avon/Geneseo second at 83. For the boys Corning had 147.50 with McQuaid Jesuit second at 114.
In the 55 meters Logan Durand was 16th (6.87) and Alex Kolpien 18th (7.03) for Corning.
Dexter Badger was 11th in the 300 in 38.36 with Wyatt McDonald 13th at 38.85 and Nicholas Brucie 17th at 39.36.
Jaxyn Mahoney was second in the 600 in 1:25.54 and Ethan Jiang was eighth (1:32.01), while Luke Mertus was 10th (1:34.17).
Mahoney won the 1000 in 2:42.62 followed by Gregory Homa (2:44.04) with Sam Regal fifth at 2:49.29.
DJ Cornfield won the 1600 in 4:26.14 with Sebastian Boutwell third at 4:41.34 followed by Nick Ferratella (4:42.57) and Charles Warner (4:45.06). Aidan Kahabka was seventh at 4:51.01.
Boutwell was second in the 3200 in 9:50.01 with Bryce Hammond fourth at 10:39.99.
In the 55 hurdles Dylan Rose was fourth in 8.54 and Jacob Hufnagel was seventh in 8.96 with Marshall Allen ninth in 9.21.
Corning was fifth in the 4x200 relay in 1:38.38 with the Hawks second in the 1600 relay in 3:42.89. Corning won the 3200 relay in 8:39.92 with a team of Cornfield, Boutwell, Homa and Kahabka.
Rose was third in the high jump at 6-feet, 2-inches and Allen was sixth at 5-feet, 3-inches.
Nathan Jennings won the pole vault at 14-feet, 1-inch followed by Kolpien (12-feet, 6-inches), Ethan Wentzel (10-feet, 6-inches) and Max Jennings (10-feet, 6-inches).
Zuri Ruffin was second in the long jump at 22-feet, 6 1/2-inches with Reilly Wells seventh at 20-feet, 7-inches and Dexter Badger 11th at 18-feet, 8 3/4-inches.
Hufnagel was eighth in the triple jump at 37-feet, 4 1/2-inches and Adrian Blouin was 11th at 36-feet, 1-inch, with Sean Freeland 13th at 31-feet, 11 1/2-inches.
Benjamin Herrman was fifth in the shot put at 37-feet, 7 1/4-inches with Logan Mullaney seventh at 35-feet, 5-inches. Adam Thomas was ninth at 34-feet, 1-inch.
Mullaney was second in the weight throw at 50-feet, 10-inches followed by Thomas at 50-feet, 9 1/2-inches. Freddie Collins was fifth at 45-feet, 6 1/2-inches, Herrman (44-feet, 8 1/2-inches) and Chase Card at 43-feet, 11 1/2-inches). Kai Huttleston was 11th at 35-feet, 3 1/4-inches.
Sadie Beres won the girls’ 3000 in 11:18.45 and Cella McLaughlin won the 55 hurdles in 8.80 followed by Shyanne Roney (9.60) and Gwen Zimmerman (10.40).
Mattisen Johnston was second in the 55 meters in 7.58 with Emma Mase eighth at 7.96. Kaylee Scolaro was 15th at 8.06.
Ella Grinnell won the 1000 in 3:12.79 followed by Kyra Gross (3:15.28) and Elianna Schneider (3:22.98).
Sofia Scouten won the 1500 race walk in 7:41.95 with Madeline Kirk third at 8:36.95 followed by Anna Patton (8:37.60).
Leila Ianovici won the 600 in 1:43.89 with Jordan Gridley third in 1:51.14 followed by Laiana Gardner in 1:55.74.
Sarah Lawson won the 1500 in 4:48.43 followed by Faith Tubbs (5:03.98), Beres (5:05.26), Olivia Murch (5:07.10), Lauren Roche (5:07.23), Olivia Martinec (5:19.58) and Megan Gensel (5:28).
Johnston was sixth in the 300 in 46.10 with Scolaro eighth at 46.31.
Corning’s Lawson, Grinnell, Beres and Martinec won the 3200 relay in 10:13.01.
Corning’s Gross, Tubbs, Ianovici and Aurora Jellif won the 1600 relay in 4:24.07.
Scolaro, Roney, Mase and Johnston won the 4x200 relay in 1:50.86.
Samantha Harvey was second in the shot put at 29-feet, 2-inches with Madelane Reynolds seventh at 24-feet, 10 1/4-inches.
Harvey won the weight throw at 39-feet, 4 1/2-inches followed by Reynolds (37-feet, 1-inch) and Silvana Bilcari (22-feet, 1 3/4-inches).
McLaughlin won the triple jump at 36-feet, 7-inches with Amanda McEwen third at 31-feet, 7-inches followed by Gridley (30-feet, 10-inches).
Mase was second in the long jump at 14-feet, 5 1/2-inches and Hadley Murray was fourth at 13-feet, 10-inches.
