THE WEEK AHEAD: POSTSEASON GETS INTO FULL SWING FOR AREA TEAMS (2024-02-12)

The postseason action continues for area teams as the STAC Basketball playoffs kick off, and the postseason gets going for swimming and diving and bowling.

Overall there are at least 18 events this week, but that can grow depending on what happens in the STAC playoffs.

MONDAY (4)
* The Horseheads girls’ basketball team takes on Ithaca in Elmira, the Edison girls are at SVE and Notre Dame is at Athens.
* The Notre Dame boys host Trumansbur.g

TUESDAY (5)
* The Corning, Horseheads and Elmira swimming and diving teams are at sectional prelims in Elmira.
* The Elmira girls basketball team is at Auburn, Corning hosts Owego and Edison hosts Groton.
* The Edison boys’ basketball team hosts Groton.

WEDNESDAY (3)
* The Horseheads girls’ basketball team hosts Susquehanna Valley in the STAC Semifinals.
* The Elmira boys’ basketball team is at Seton Catholic in the STAC semifinals.
* The Corning, Horseheads and Elmira swimming and diving teams are at sectional prelims in Elmira.

THURSDAY (2)
* The Notre Dame boys’ basketball team takes on Lansing in the IAC playoffs.
* The Corning girls’ basketball team hosts Edison.

FRIDAY (1)
* The Corning, Horseheads, Elmira and Edison bowling teams are at the state qualifiers at Midway Lanes.

SATURDAY (3)
* The Corning, Horseheads, Elmira and Edison bowling teams are at the state qualifiers at Midway Lanes.
* The Corning, Horseheads and Elmira swimming and diving teams are at sectional finals in Elmira.
* The Corning, Elmira and Notre Dame track and field teams are at the Section IV Classic at Cortland.
