HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' WRESTLING: HORSEHEADS FINISHES SECOND AT SECTION IV CHAMPIONSHIPS (21 PHOTOS) (2024-02-10)

BINGHAMTON — The Horseheads were edged for the team title at the Section IV Girls’ Wrestling Championships by Oneonta with Oneonta scoring 131 to 123 for Horseheads.

“Today was a tough day,” Horseheads coach Terri Gill said. “We have a young team and today we struggled to wrestle at our best. Hats off to Oneonta for winning their first girls’ sectional title.”

Sonya Dordoni was runner-up at 94 pounds.

Harley Ackerman of Horseheads was runner-up at 100 pounds. She had a pin in 1:55 to get into the final where she fell by fall in 1:23 to Kaelynn Dickson of U-E.

Lily Gullo took fifth at 107. She had a pin in 1:27 in the fifth-place match.

Lily Vesek was sixth at 126. She had a pin in 47 seconds to get into the fifth-place match.

Aliyah Tests of Horseheads was 0-2 at 132.

Morgan Evans was a runner-up at 138. She had pins in 1:56 and 42 seconds to get into the final. She fell to Delaney Dixon of Windsor by fall in 28 seconds in the final. Anna Sheahan was fourth at the weight. She had pins in 40 seconds and 3:41 to get into the third-place match. Morgan Adams was 0-2 at the weight.

Kalyani Wiehe was fourth at 152. She had a 6-4 win over Jade Cook of Corning to get into the third-place match.

Tori Cortright took fifth at 185. She had a pin in 4:48 to get into the semifinals. In the consolation round she had a pin in 2:14 in the fifth-place match.

Ellisa Bly took fifth at 235. She had a pin in 3:15 to get into the semifinals. IN the consolation round she won her fifth-place match by fall in 2:39.

Lily Garrabrant was 0-2 at 145. Lydia Rockwell was 0-2 at 152.
