COLLEGE SOFTBALL: ELMIRA GRAD COON HITS HOME RUN ON OPENING DAY OF SEASON FOR VIRGINIA (2024-02-09)

Elmira graduate Sarah Coon opened her season with a home run as she hit a two-run home run in a win over Jacksonville State.

Coon hit a two-run home run down the left field line in the fifth inning to cap the scoring for Virginia in the 7-3 win.

Virginia started the year 2-0 with a pair of wins Friday in Columbia, South Carolina at the Carolina Classic, topping UNCG 6-5 to start the day.

In the first game Coon drew a leadoff walk to start the second inning and scored a run on a teammates home run. Coon scored two runs in the game.
