HORSEHEADS — The Horseheads Blue Raiders captured the STAC Tournament Championship for the third straight year while three Horseheads kids won titles on Saturday, along with one Elmira wrestler winning a title.

“It was a great team effort, it is great to see the results of the kids buying into the system and working toward our team goals. We had some non starters step up and compete in the varsity tournament. They helped to secure some team points for us.

“We had four guys in the final with Cody Dale, Lucas Mosher and Zach Schrage all winning titles. Hunter Lavigne came up a ltitle short, but battled hard against a quality opponent.”

Horseheads had a team score of 218.5, with Windsor second at 146.5. Elmira was eighth at 79 points and Corning was 10th at 70 points.

At 101 pounds Josh Knapp of Horseheads took third. He won the third-place match 8-2 over Avery Bowman of Waverly.

Elmira’s Ryder DePadua-Reese won the 116-pound title. He pinned Jimmy Sysen of Vestal in the final in 3:28.

Horseheads’ Aiden Culshaw was fifth and he won 2-1 over teammate Joel Scibek in the fifth-place match, as Scibek finished sixth.

Elmira’s J.T. Guyette took third at 124. He won the third-place match by injury default in 4:33.

Matthew Mahon of Corning took fifth at 138 with a 8-0 major decision over Donny Winslow of Vestal in the fifth-place match.

Coleton Owen of Horseheads took third at 145 with a 3-0 win in the third-place match over Mason Masi of Maine-Endwell.

Lucas Mosher of Horseheads won the 152-pound title with a 17-0 technical fall win over William Ackley of Johnson City. Logan Bruce of Corning took third, winning by injury default in 2:05 over Albert Smith of Maine-Endwell in the third-place match. Jaxson Burchard of Horseheads won fifth place, winning the fifth-place match over Jaqwel Vaughn of Bingahmton-Seton Catholic.

Horseheads’ Zachary Schrage won the 160-pound title, beating Corning’s Clayton Smith in the final by fall in 5:41. Tyler Farrand of Corning took third place, winning the third-place match over Alan Michael Rubin of Oneonta by fall in 4:47.

Sam Brenen-Buseck of Elmira took fourth at 170. Brenen-Buseck was edged in the third-place match 7-3.

Hunter Lavigne of Horseheads took second at 190, getting edged 11-7 in the first-place match against Mason McCombs of Windsor. Jacob Bennett of Horseheads took fourth at 190, falling by fall in the third-place match to Logan McGuire of Maine-Endwell. Elmira’s Kristian Knox took sixth at 190, falling by injury default in the 190-pound fifth-place match to Johnson City Kenyon Davidson.

Horseheads’ Seamus Carroll took fifth at 285, winning by pin in 1:31 over Nason Renne of Oneonta in the fifth-place match.
