YOUTH WRESTLING: LIL HAWKS WIN ET PUTT MEMORIAL TOURNEY AS LOCAL SQUADS COMPETE IN CORNING (24 PHOTOS) (2023-12-15)

CORNING — The Corning Lil Hawks hosted the ET Putt Memorial Wrestling Tournament last weekend.

This year’s tournament yielded over 300 wrestlers hailing from more than 27 different schools or clubs across New York and Pennsylvania.

The Lil Hawks secured the fourth team title in as many years with 39 out of a possible 40 points, with HFL (Honeyoe Falls Lima) a close second with 37 points.

The top four team place finishers were rounded out with the Elmira Jr. Wrestling third at 31 points and CWC (Canisteo Wrestling Club) with 28 points.

The team sportsmanship award which was awarded by officials was presented to Penn Yan. The award was presented by the Putt Family with a monetary donation and plaque in remembrance of the late ET Putt.

In total, the Corning Lil Hawks enjoyed 100% team participation with all 58 club members in attendance.

The Lil Hawks will again be in team action this weekend as they travel to Waverly and Towanda. Their season will continue into the New Year as they will compete as a team before individually finishing their season at the NYWAY State Tournament in March in Syracuse.
