HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' BASKETBALL: HORSEHEADS HITS 16 THREES AS THEY OPEN SEASON WITH WIN (24 PHOTOS) (2023-12-05) Southern Tier Sports Report HORSEHEADS — The Blue Raiders girls’ basketball team hit 16 threes as they rolled to a season-opening 78-38 win over Maine-Endwell on Tuesday night.
Sophia Bonnell had 25 points, with five threes, and Maddie Matkosky had 17 points, also with five threes.
Jordyn Gross had a double-double with 10 points and 12 boards and Megan Wolf had five points and 10 rebounds, with a three pointer.
Horseheads scored 27 second-quarter points to break open a 17-12 lead after one quarter and go up 44-24 at the half.
Leah Scott and Kaylyn Cook had six points each, both on two threes.
Emma Kamas had five points, with one three, and Maddie Ribble and Alexis Knox each had two points for the Blue Raiders.
