HIGH SCHOOL BOYS' BASKETBALL: STEVENSON NETS 24 IN VARSITY DEBUT, BUT HAWKS EDGED BY HORNELL (2023-12-02)

COHOCTON — Kyler Stevenson had 24 points in his varsity debut and Nolyn Proudfoot had 19, but the Corning boys were edged by Hornell 63-59 in the Wayland-Cohocton Hall of Fame Basketball Showcase on Saturday.

Stevenson had 12 points in the third quarter and hit two threes in the game.

Proudfoot had nine points in the third quarter.

Corning was down 34-22 at the half, but outscored Hornell 25-12 in the third to take a 47-46 lead into the final quarter. Hornell outscored the Hawks 17-12 in the fourth.

Larsen Burch had six points for Corning and Gavyn Hogue and Caleb Anderson each had four points, while Mekai Daniels had two points.

Stevenson had five boards, three assists, a steal and two blocks and Anderson had seven boards and two assists, with a steal and a block.

Proudfoot had eight boards and two steals and Daniels had three boards, four assists and two steals while Burch had two assists and two boards.
