HORSEHEADS — The Horseheads wrestling team went 1-2 on the first day of the Mark Stephens Classic, while the Horseheads B team also went 2-1 on the day.

For the Horseheads varsity team they beat Ithaca 63-11. Josh Knapp had a pin in 2:50 at 101 and Tanner Knapp (108) and Joel Scibek (116) each won by forfeit.

Zack Bennett won a hard-fought 11-10 decision at 124 over Finn Kelly. Cody Dale got a pin in 5:13 at 138 and Seth Loucks got a pin in 1:12 at 145, while Lucas Mosher had a pin in 57 seconds at 152.

Zachary Schrage won by fall in 1:13 at 170 and Seamus Carroll won by fall in 1:19 at 285.

Hunter Lavigne (190) and Jacob Bennett (215) each won by forfeit.

Horseheads fell to Middletown 35-30.

Tanner Knapp won by fall in 2:21 at 108 and Kole Zufall won a hard-fought 7-6 match over Justin Noboa at 131.

Jaxson Burchard won 10-4 at 152 and Mosher won by fall in 1:51, while Schrage won by fall in 3:36 at 170, while Lavigne won by fall in 38 seconds at 190.

Horseheads finished the day with a 39-36 loss to Canisteo-Greenwood.

Josh Knapp won by fall in 2:31 at 101 and Tanner Knapp won by forfeit at 108. Zufall won by fall in 4:42 at 131 and Lavigne won by fall in 2:49 at 190, while Bennett won by fall in 3:25 at 215 and Carroll won by fall in 3:33 at 285.

Horseheads B fell to Middletown 56-9. Noah Miller had a 19-4 technical fall win at 108 for Horseheads and Allen Jenkins won by major decision 15-7 at 152.

The B team beat Bolivar-Richburg 36-30. Aiden Culshaw won by forfeit at 124 and Adrian Bacon (138), Jack Clate (145), Connor Warrick (160) and Vincenzo Menard (190) all won by forfeits.

JJ Beckwith won by fall in 3:05 at 131 for the Blue Raiders.

Horseheads B ended the day with a 45-30 win over Ithaca.

Culshaw had a 12-10 win at 124 and Horseheads got a forfeit at 116. Bacon won by fall in 3:55 at 138 and Jenkins won by fall in 1:32 at 152.

Menard won by forfeit at 190 and Ethan Dziennik won by forfeit at 215, while Noah Miller won by forfeit at 108. Martin Huang won by fall in 1:05 at 285.
