HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL: THREE LOCALS EARN ALL-STATE HONORS; STAC ALL-STAR TEAMS FULL OF LOCALS (2023-11-28)

Three area volleyball players earned all-state honors, while a number of players earned all-STAC honors recently.

Corning’s Gracee Work was a third-team all-state pick in Class AAA as an outside hitter and Madisen Jones was a third-team pick as a middle hitter. Both players are juniors.

Elmira senior Piper Hooey is a fourth-team all-state pick as an outside hitter.

For volleyball the West/Metro All-Conference team includes Work as an outside hitter and Hannah Smith of Corning as a right-side hitter. Jones and Adrianna Calbi of Horseheads are on the team as middle hitters.

The West all-division team includes Hooey and teammate Addisyn Chorney as outside hitters and Sam Molingou of Corning as a middle hitter.

Corning’s Piper Emmick and Horseheads’ Kiersten McCarthy made the team as setters.
