HIGH SCHOOL BOWLING: ELMIRA BOYS AND GIRLS OPEN SEASON WITH WINS OVER HORSEHEADS (24 PHOTOS) (2023-11-27)

ELMIRA — The Elmira boys and girls bowling teams opened the season with 5-0 wins over Horseheads on Monday night at Dixie Lanes.

The Express boys, coming off a state title last year shot 1,059, 1,007 and 947 for a 3,013 to 1,022, 955 and 898 for a 2,875 for Horseheads. The Elmira girls, who were fifth at states shot 908, 783 and 846 for a 2,537, while Horseheads shot 717-687-676-2,080.

Alex Gublo led Elmira with a 256-222 and 216 for a 694 and Alex Smith shot 207, 224 and 197 for a 628.

Skylar Shadduck shot a 172, 216 and 182 for a 570 and Trent Belloma shot 236-171-157-564. Logan Card shot 188, 174 for a 362 for two games and Frankie D’Angelo shot 195 for one game.

Andrew Bauman led Horseheads with a 192, 210 and 209 for a 611, while Landon Ayres shot 216, 170 and 204 for a 590.

Michael Rennells shot 203, 190 and 191 for a 584, while Noah Cady shot 199, 182 and 169 for a 550, while Zach Kathan shot 212, 203 and 125 for a 540.

Elmira’s girls were led by Maddy Smith with a 238-159-195-592. Abby Hink shot 234-133-150-517 and Bella Wood shot a 141-168-197-506.

Madison Wasici shot 136-174-136-446 and Isabella Stanley shot 159-149-308 for two games, while Makayla Buchanon shot a 168 for one game.

Horseheads was led by Jenn Mattison with a 193-167-225-585 and Maddie Jerzak shot 145-187-150-482.

Olivia Rightmire shot 133-134-106-373 and Alex Cole shot 136-111-92-339, while Haley Stone shot 110-88-103-301.

For JV boys Elmira shot 907, 849 and 838 for a 2,594, while Horseheads shot 756, 854 and 762 for a 2,572 as Elmira won 4-1.

Peyton Rozell led Elmira with a 237-199-189-625 and Phillip Addington shot 189-179-181-549. Logan Ciconi shot 167-167-148-482 and Nick German shot 169-151-161-481 while Jaxon Brooks had a 145-151-296 for two games and Carter Gardner shot a 159 for one game.

Cayden Bowman led Horseheads with a 192-265-165-622 and Gabe Merrill shot 184-124-163-471. Zane Alexander shot 137-156-148-441, while Robert Guardi shot 128-158-145-431 and Owen Wood shot 115-151-141-407.
