HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY: CORNING'S LAWSON 8TH AT REGIONALS TO MAKE NATIONALS, BOYS AND GIRLS TOP 10 AS TEAMS (2023-11-26)

Wappingers Falls — Sarah Lawson had a top-10 finish to qualify for Nike Nationals and the Corning boys and girls cross country teams both had top 10 finishes at the Nike Cross Country Regionals at Bowdoin Park.

Lawson was eighth in the region and will run at nationals on Saturday, Dec. 2 in Portland, Oregon.

The boys took ninth and the girls were eighth on the day.

Lawson was eighth in the Girls NY Championship in 18:58. Corning was eighth at 194. Kinetic RC won at 42 points and Emily Bush of that program won the title in 18:09.5. Ithaca’s Tsadia Bercuvitz, of Finger Lakes Running Club, was third in the meet in 18:40.

Ella Grinnell was 61st for the Hawks in 20:43.5 and Sadie Beres was 74th at 21:12.8. Olivia Murch was 78th in 21:19.9. Faith Tubbs was 83rd in 21:26.5. Lauren Roche was 95th at 21:42.8. Meghan McLaughlin was 99th at 21:51.4.

For the boys Corning was ninth at 276, with MWXC winning at 78 points.

Nolan McGinn of UNA-NY McGinn won at 15:57.8.

DJ Cornfield was 64th at 17:23.1 and Sebastian Boutwell was 73rd at 17:30.6.

Gregory Homa was 94th at 17:47.8 and Jaxyn Mahoney was 102nd at 17:53.5. Nick Farratella was 125th at 18:12.3. Aidan Kahabka was 183rd in 19:22.3. Bryce Hammond was 192nd in 19:41.6.
