HUDDLE FINISHES NINTH AMONG WOMEN AT THE NYC MARATHON (2023-11-06)
Southern Tier Sports ReportMANHATTAN — Notre Dame graduate, and two-time Olympian, Molly Huddle finished ninth among women, and second among American women, at the New York City Marathon on Sunday with a time of 2:32.02.
Huddle finished one spot in the women’s field behind fellow American, Keilyn Taylor.
Hellen Obiri won the race in 2:27.23. Obiri won this year’s Boston Marathon as well.
Ethiopa’s Letesenbet Gidey was second in the race in 2:27.29. Gidey is the 2022 World Champion in the 10,000 meters and ran the fastest marathon debut in history in 2022.
Defending champion Sharon Looked of Kenya was third in 2:27.33 followed by Kenyan Brigid Kosgei, who broke the marathon world record in 2019 with a 2:14.04 in Chicago.
Huddle was 68th overall among all runners in the field.
