THE WEEK AHEAD: POSTSEASON ACTION HAPPENING IN EACH SPORT (2023-10-29)

Southern Tier Sports Report
Postseason events are happening in every sport this week, with sectional finals in volleyball, semifinals in football and sectional championships in swimming and diving and cross country.

Overall there are 11 events this week, including four each on Wednesday and Saturday.

Here’s a day-by-day look at what’s on the schedule this week, including how many events each day.

WEDNESDAY (4)
* The Notre Dame swim team is at Watkins Glen for sectional prelims, while Horseheads, Elmira and Corning are at Elmira.
* The Horseheads volleyball team hosts Vestal in a sectional semifinal.
* The Corning boys’ soccer team is on the road at Yorktown High School to play Arlington for a sub-regional game.
* The Elmira girls’ soccer team is at Johnson City for a sub-regional game.

THURSDAY (1)
* All area cross country teams are at the Section 4 Championships at Chenango Valley State Park.

FRIDAY (2)
* The Horseheads football team hosts Union-Endicott in a sectional semifinal game.
* Area divers compete in the diving portion of the Section 4 Championships at Elmira.

SATURDAY (4)
* Notre Dame’s swim team is at sectional finals in the morning at Watkins Glen, while Horseheads, Elmira and Corning compete in the afternoon.
* Elmira and Corning meet in a sectional championship.
* The Elmira football team hosts Binghamton in a sectional semifinal, while Edison is at Cooperstown in a game that was added after the regular season ended Saturday.
