HIGH SCHOOL BOYS' SOCCER: CORNING SUFFERS FIRST LOSS AT VESTAL (14 PHOTOS) (2023-09-21) Southern Tier Sports Report VESTAL — The Corning Hawks went on the road in a rematch of last year’s STAC Championship and suffered their first loss of the year to Vestal, 3-0.
The Hawks were 7-0 and are ranked fourth in the state in AAA. Vestal is now 6-1 on the year.
“Caleb Anderson had a huge first half in goal,” Corning coach Chad Freelove said. “He made a handful of great saves to keep it 0-0. It was 0-0 with 20 left and we had one breakdown that put us on our heels. The guys will get back at it and be prepared for Saturday.”
Corning had six shots and five corner kicks and Vestal had 12 shots and five corners.
Graham Sholett had two goals and David Samarsky had a goal for Vestal.
