Canton senior Michael Davis was a key cog in the unbeaten Warriors’ blowout win over Towanda, while Corning senior Brooke Terwilliger established a new Section IV record. They are The Sports Reports / Ziff Law Firm Regional “Athletes of the Week.”

CANTON DAVIS NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL BOYS ‘ATHLETE OF THE WEEK’
Davis shined on both sides of the football for Canton in its 40-0 win over Towanda Saturday.

Davis scored four touchdowns — three of them on the ground — and had one reception for 57 yards and a score.

Defensively, Davis had nine tackles, including six solo stops, and 2.5 QB sacks.

Honorable Mentions: North Penn-Liberty’s Brady Stetter (soccer); Athens’ Graham Wanck (cross country), Corning’s James Freeman (football); and SVEC’s Steven Novak (soccer).

CORNING’S TERWILLIGER NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL GIRLS ‘ATHLETE OF THE WEEK’
Terwilliger broke the Section IV record for diving at a meet against Johnson City this week.

Terwilliger, a returning state medalist, had a six-dive score of 341.65 during the meet, which easily qualifies Terwilliger for states again.

Terwilliger shattered the old sectional record, by more than 20 points, which was 318.10 by Kailee Payne of Ithaca in 2021.
