CORNING — The Corning volleyball team dropped the first set on Tuesday, then won the next three to top Horseheads, 3-1.

Horseheads won the first set 25-20, before Corning won 25-15, 25-14, 25-22.

Gracee Work had five points, three aces, nine kills and four digs for the Hawks and Piper Emmick finished with 15 points, an ace, a kill, 26 assists, a block and a dig.

Hannah Smith had six points, an ace, five kills, two assists two blocks and three digs and Sam Molingou had 12 points, three aces, six kills, two blocks and two digs.

Adrianna Calbi had 11 kills for Horseheads, with 10 digs, and Katie Hinman had nine kills.

Abby Johns had four kills and Shae Thomas had 12 digs, while Lexi Malay finished with six digs.

Kiersten McCarthy finished with 24 assists.

Corning won the JV match 25-22, 21-25, 25-13.

Sydney Layton had 11 points, eight aces and three digs for the Hawks and Lauren DeRosa had 17 assists and seven points.

Evie Starns had six kills and two blocks.
