HIGH SCHOOL BOYS' SOCCER: CORNING BLANKS ELMIRA TO STAY UNBEATEN (24 PHOTOS) (2023-09-17) Southern Tier Sports Report CORNING — The state-ranked Corning Hawks stayed unbeaten as they topped Elmira 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Carter Rosno had the hat trick in the win. He now has 25 goals this season. He has scored at least two goals in every game this season.
“We were really pleased with how the back line of defense were able to stymie plays early,” Corning coach Chad Freelove said. “Elmira’s defense played disciplined as always, and forced us to create small openings and shoot with efficiency. Carter doesn’t need a lot of space, and was able to take advantage of small space for his final two goals.”
Caleb Anderson got the clean sheet in goal for Corning. Jake Kempton had an assist for Corning in the game.
Sam Brenen-Buseck finished with nine saves for Elmira.
Corning had 12 shots and 15 corner kicks and Elmira had two shots and one corner kick.
Corning is at Vestal on Thursday.
