HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY: ELMIRA'S DEVLIN TAKES 2ND TO HIGHLIGHT PERFORMANCE OF LOCALS AT MCDANIEL-BAXTER (20 PHOTOS) (2023-09-16)

CHENANGO VALLEY — Elmira’s Ella Devlin finished second in the varsity girls race to lead the locals at the 55th Annual McDaniel-Baxter Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

Devlin, a freshman, took second in 16:43.70, behind only Union-Endicott’s Dakota Limbert (16:41.40).

Elmira’s Madelyn Wise was 13th in 18:06.90, while Corning’s Elsa Wood was 23rd in 19:15.30.

Emma Barends of Elmira was 28th in 19:26.60. Corning’s Lauren Williams was 32nd in 19:40.50 and teammate Chinonyerem Okoro was 36th in 20:06.

Corning’s Sofia Scouten was 43rd in 20:33.80 and teammate Anna Patton was 45th in 20:44.90.

Corning’s Hadley Murray was 52nd in 21:17.80 and teammates Ella Kraft (22:00.90) and Anya Beres (22:01.60) were 65th and 66th.

Evangeline Ferratella was 72nd in 22:38.70, while teammate Margherita Dadone was 85th in 24:30.60.

Elmira’s Marriah Faucett was 89th in 25:21.40 and teammates Rhiannon Perkins (34:36.90) and Cheyenne Faucett (35:15.20) were 104th and 105th.

Corning finished sixth as a team at 150, while Elmira was eighth at 171. U-E won at 69 points.

Nicholas Bowes of Elmira was 42nd at 16:28.80 and Corning’s Preston Miller was 48th at 16:44.30.

Thomas VanSlyke of Corning was 53rd in 17:02.50 and Elmira’s Ayden Coleman was 60th at 17:30.

Corning’s Edward Witt was 70th in 18:08.10 and teammate Dominic Griffin was 73rd in 18:12 and teammate Kyler Miller was 81st in 18:52.30.

Elmira’s Jha’Micque Bell was 82nd at 18:52.40 followed by Corning’s Coleten Ketchum was 83rd in 18:53.30 followed by Elmira’s Duane Nichols (19:05.40).

Elmira’s Wally Ferriter was 96th in 22:02.30 followed by teammate Jagger Woodcock (22:15.50).

Corning was 11th in the boys race at 272 points and Elmira was 13th at 301. Vestal won at 77 points.

Krish Shenoy of Corning was 46th in the JV race in 19:50.40, while Kade Brodeur was 55th in 20:21.50 and Ethan Smith was 57th in 20:25.30. Aidan Burr was 66th in 21:14.40.

Abdiel Basabakwinshi of Twin Tiers Christian was fifth in the JV race in 15:26.80 and Isaac Buck of Twin Tiers Christian was 65th in 21:14.30.
