HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: EDISON EDGED ON THE ROAD AT UNATEGO/FRANKLIN (2023-09-16)

UNATEGO — The Edison football team went on the road and came up just short 26-20 at Unatego/Franklin.

Down 12-0 after one quarter the Spartans scored 20 straight points in the second quarter to go up 20-12 at the half.

Unatego/Franklin scored in the third and fourth quarters to get the win.

Reyes McAtee hauled in a 17-yard touchdown pass from Drew Slaven at 8:28 of the second quarter and Slavin ran in the two-point run to start the scoring for Edison.

Garrison Balash hauled in a 17-yard touchdown from Slaven to make it a 14-12 Edison lead and then McAtee hauled in a 30-yard touchdown to cap the Edison scoring..

Greg Golden ran for 68 yards on 18 carries and McAtee ran for 57 yards on eight carries in the game.

Slavin was 10-for-19 passing for 101 yards and three scores in the game.

McAtee had three catches for 62 yards and Balash had 35 yards on two catches.

Golden had nine tackles to lead the Spartans defense and Zimear Young had seven tackles and recovered a fumble.

McAtee recovered a fumble in the game.
