HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: HORSEHEADS FOOTBALL TOPS CORCORAN TO MOVE TO 3-0 ON SEASON (2023-09-16)

Southern Tier Sports Report
SYRACUSE — The Horseheads football team moved to 3-0 on the year with a 28-6 win over Corcoran Syracuse on Friday night.

Bradock Salisbury started the scoring for Horseheads with a 65-yard fumble return for a score. The kick by Trevor Reidy was good and the Blue Raiders went up 7-0.

Corcoran got a six-yard run by Jeadi Higdon Jr. The extra point try was no good and it was 7-6 Horseheads.

A one-yard run by Lucas Mosher in the second quarter extended the Horseheads lead. The Reidy kick was good and it was 14-6.

Colton Cox had a 13-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, and the Reidy kick made it 21-6.

In the fourth quarter Cox hit Salisbury on a 20-yard touchdown and Reidy made the kick to cap the scoring.

Mosher and Salisbury each had 100 yard rushing games for Horseheads. It’s the third straight 100-plus yard game on the ground for Mosher this year.

Mosher ran for 113 yards and a score on 25 carries and Salisbury had nine carries for 108 yards.

Finn Scanlon Shaw ran for 50 yards on seven carries and Cox ran three times for 18 yards.

Salisbury had the 20-yard touchdown catch, Miles Woodhouse had two catches for 50 yards and Scanlon Shaw had two catches for 17 yards.

“We had to play the game with some guys out,” Horseheads coach Kevin Hillman said. “Griff Stevens and Dominic Cardinale. Guys stepped up. Josh McCawley unselfishly moved to tight end and Colton Cox stepped in at quarterback.

“Just so proud of how these guys kept battling. That was a really big, physical team. Guys filled in some spots they haven’t played and contributed. These guys are putting the tea first and it’s great to see.”
