HIGH SCHOOL BOYS' SOCCER: SECOND HALF GOALS LIFT HORSEHEADS PAST ELMIRA (24 PHOTOS) (2023-09-15) Southern Tier Sports Report HORSEHEADS — A pair of second half goals lifted the Horseheads boys’ soccer tea past Elmira 2-1 on Thursday.
All the scoring in the game came in the second half.
Elmira opened the scoring a few minutes in when Ryan Stukey deflected a ball sent in by Luca Capilli.
Horseheads scored three minutes later when Coleton Owen gathered a loose ball in the box and found the back of the net.
Elijah Friend scored a header off a serve from Ben Church with 15 minutes left to put Horseheads ahead.
Sam Brenen-Buseck had 13 saves for Elmira and Jake Bennett had five saves for Horseheads.
