ITHACA — Carter Rosno scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime as the Corning Hawks edged Ithaca 3-2 in a battle of state-ranked teams.

Corning, ranked sixth in the state in AA, are now 7-0 on the year and Ithaca, now 5-1 on the year, is fourth in Class A.

Rosno scored in the second overtime for his second goal of the year, and 22nd of the season. He now has 52 career goals.

“We dug deep in the end,” Corning coach Chad Freelove said. “It is always tough to lose in an OT match, and always elation following it. Proud of the way the guys worked together to finish he watch.

"The goal keepers traded great save after great save. Caleb Anderson came up huge in the first OT saving one off the line."

Grayson Timmons had the other Corning goal and Rohan Amin had an assist.

Iago Lopez had both Ithaca goals.

Corning had 17 shots and four corners and Ithaca had eight shots and one corner kick.

Caleb Anderson had six saves for Corning and Leonard Levy had 12 for Ithaca.

“Levy came up big a few ties at the end of regulation and in the first overtime,” Freelove said of the Ithaca keeper. “This match was a playoff quality match in the middle of the season.”
