HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY: EDISON HOSTS SIX TEAM MEET AS THEY CELEBRATE SENIOR NIGHT (24 PHOTOS) (September 13, 2023)

ELMIRA — The Edison cross country teams celebrated senior night as they hosted a six-team meet on Tuesday afternoon.

For the varsity boys SVE won at 26 points, followed by Watkins Glen (41) and Edison (55), while Notre Dame, Tioga and Candor had incomplete teams.

For the varsity girls Candor had 30 to win, f followed by SVE (38) and Edison (53), with Watkins, Tioga and Notre Dame not having full teams.

SVE girls won with 15 points, and were the only modified boys, or girls, complete team.

For the varsity boys SVE’s John Garrison won in 18:52.09.

Notre Dame’s Gavin Meier was fifth in 21:33.36 and Edison’s Kaleb Podoliak was 10th in 23:46.03.

Cameron Kraft of Notre Dame was 12th in 24:08.02 followed by Edison’s Jameson Duggan (24:22.44). Edison’s Darius Kelley was 16th in 24:50.40 and teammate Zach Sternfels was 18th in 24:55.69.

Elliott Riffle of Edison was 21st in 26:27.97 followed by teammate Landon Allen (26:32.16). Bobby Sharp of Notre Dame was 24th in 28:25.60 and Carter Smith of Edison was 28th in 31:09.58. Shawn Kelly of Edison was 32nd in 35:38.67 and Trevor Agan of Notre Dame was 33rd in 36:32.04.


Edison’s Hannah Lasko was eighth in 29:40.08 followed by Notre Dame’s Lylie Colunio (30:11.31) and Caitlin Keenan (30:15.15).

Edison’s Sophia Mirando was 13th in 31:59.86 and Riley Thresher was 17th in 34:10.76.

Haylie Rosenthal of Edison was 21st in 38:42.97 followed by Sabrina O’Connor of Notre Dame (40:27.16), while Will Timofeeff was 24th in 43:07.69.

In the modified boys race Grayson Margeson of Edison was seventh in 16:02.58.

For modified girls Edison’s Emma Rose Deats was third in 15:01.54. Olivia Welch of Edison was seventh in 16:14.29 and Paisley Harnos was 12th in 17:29.71. Monica Shadduck of Notre Dame was 17th in 18:51.67 and Edison’s Aubrielle Ector was 19th in 19:35.75.
