ENDWELL — The Horseheads boys’ soccer team opened the year with a 2-0 win on the road at Maine-Endwell.

Elijah Friend scored 20 minutes into the game off a Ryan Anderson assist and Colton Owen scored 10 minutes later off a Friend assist.

Jake Bennett had five saves in goal to preserve the shutout.

“Just a great team effort, especially on the defensive side” Horseheads coach Mark Mucci said. “A lot of guys hustling and battling on every play and the back line was solid all match.”
