WAVERLY’S BECHY NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL BOYS ‘ATHLETE OF THE WEEK’
Bechy
ran a school-record time of 10.79 seconds to win the 100-meter dash. He
broke the school record of 10.81 seconds set in 1995 and matched in
1998.
Bechy teamed with juniors Ralph Johnson, and Micah
Chandler, and senior Jerrell Sackett to win the 400-meter relay in a new
Section IV record time of 42.30 seconds, eclipsing the previous record
of 42.31 seconds.

ELMIRA’S MORDVINOVA NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL GIRLS ‘ATHLETE OF THE WEEK’Mordvinova won both the 800-meter and 1500-meter runs at the Section IV Track and Field state qualifiers.
She
shattered her own school record in the 800 meters in 2:11.74, beating
the field by almost six seconds. The time in the 800 is the sixth
fastest in the state this season.
Modvinova also won the 1500 in 4:40.53, topping the field by nearly seven seconds.
