HIGH SCHOOL BOYS' LACROSSE: HAWKS TURN IN DOMINANT DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE, BUT FALL IN REGIONAL FINAL (2023-06-03)

CICERO — The Corning boys’ lacrosse team turned in a dominant defensive performance, as they fought to the end in an 8-4 loss to Baldwinsville in the Class A Regional final.

Facing the defending state champions the Hawks held them to the second fewest goals they scored all season.

“Played well against defending state champs,” Corning coach Chris Hogue said.

James Freeman, Chris Grimaldi, Kale Lillico and Brenden Jardin-Reed all had goals for the Hawks.

Garrett Sutton had a hat trick for Baldwinsville and Keegan Lynch had a goal and two assists. Carson Dyl and Brady Garcia each had a goal and an assist and Brayden Penafeather-Stevenson and Dylan Garcia had goals, while Ryan Quinn had two assists.

The game was tied at four after one quarter and the Hawks trailed by just one goal, 3-2, at the break against the 17-2 Bees.

Baldwinsville scored four third-period goals as they pulled away for the win.
