HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' TRACK AND FIELD: CORNING WINS TITLE AT SECTION IV STATE QUALIFIER (19 PHOTOS) (2023-06-01)

ENDICOTT —It was a strong second day for the Corning Hawks at the Section IV Track and Field State qualifier as they won the title at Union-Endicott High School on Thursday with a team score of 77 points.

The Hawks had 25 points more than runner-up Ithaca.

Olivia Murch made states in the 2000 steeplechase, finished second overall, and first in Division I, in 7:53.87. Megan McLaughlin was fifth in 8:07.40.

Cella McLaughlin won the 100 hurdles title to make states with a time of 15.80. Paige Kesterson was fifth in 16.86.

Megan Kirk, Sarah Lawson, Ella Grinnell and Faith Tubbs won the 3200 relay in 10:01.01 to make states.

The Hawks won the 1600 relay to qualify for states with a time of 4:06.05.

Abby Reppert was second overall, first in Division I, in the pole vault at 9-feet, 6-inches.  

Lauren Roche was eighth in the 1500 in 5:13.65 and Olivia Martinec was 10th in 5:16.30. Sadie Beres was 12th in 5:20.58 followed by Cassandra Collins in 5:22.09. Taylor Farrell was 19th in 5:36.58.

Gwen Zimmerman was ninth in the pentathlon. Zimmerman was seventh in the 100 hurdles in 19.18, ninth in the shot put (6.66m), fourth in the high jump (1.32m), fifth in the long jump (4.09m) and 10th in the 800 (3:02.40).

Kesterson was 10th in the triple jump at 31-feet, 9-inches and Maddie Sweet and Shyanne Roney were tied for 10th in the high jump at 4-feet, 8-inches and Emma Sutton was 14th at 4-feet, 6-inches.

Sophia Cimo was third overall in the discus at 107-feet, 4-inches. Ashley Tubbs was 11th at 86-feet, 10-inches followed by Harlee Dessoye at 86-feet.
