HIGH SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD: RUFFER WINS PENTATHLON, EISNER MAKES STATES IN A 2ND EVENT FOR HORSEHEADS (16 PHOTOS) (2023-06-01)

ENDICOTT — Noah Ruffer won the pentathlon and Tess Eisner made states in a second event to highlight the second day at the Section IV State Qualifier at Union-Endicott on Thursday.

Ruffer was top four in every event on his way to winning the pentathlon with a score of 3,061 points.

In the 110 hurdles Ruffer took third in 15.99 and he was second in the shot put at 11.40 meters.

He was third in the high jump at 1.79 meters and he took fourth int he long jump at 5.76 meters, while he was third in the 1500 in 4:52.62.

Eisner was second overall, and first in Division I, in the triple jump at 35-feet, 5-inches to qualify for the state meet. She had won the long jump on Wednesday to make states in that event as well. Jennifer Kruckow was 15th at 30-feet, 11 1/2-inches.

Sophia Cipolla was seventh in the girls’ pentathlon at 1,877 points. Cipolla was fourth in the 100 hurdles (17.93), second in the shot put (7.63 meters), ninth in the high jump (1.23 meters), 10th in the long jump (3.66 meters) and eighth in the 800 (2:53.14).

Eisner finished fourth in the 100 in 12.93.

Kiran Gulati was eighth in the boys’ 3000 steeplechase at 11:15.17. CeCe Cowen was sixth in the 1500 in 5:10.38.

In the girls’ 3200 relay Samantha Oakes, Taylor Tremba, Ayla Kerwan and Milo Grow took fourth at 10:45.98.

Nathan Zhou, Max Williams, Nicholas Kowal and Cael Owen took 13th in the boys’ 3200 relay in 9:13.38.

In the girls’ 1600 relay MayAnna Sindlinger, Erica Bancroft, Alexus Borek and Eisner took eighth in 4:22.91.

Seth Wilsoncroft, Gulati, Ryan Anderson and Bradock Salisbury took third in the 1600 relay for the boys in 3:28.84.

The Horseheads girls tied for sixth as a team with 28 points and the boys were 14th with 10 points.
