HIGH SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD: LAWSON HEADED BACK TO STATES IN THE 3000 FOR CORNING GIRLS (16 PHOTOS) (2023-05-31) Southern Tier Sports Report ENDICOTT — Sarah Lawson is headed back to the state meet to headline the first day of the Section IV State Qualifier at Union-Endicott High School for the Corning girls team on Wednesday.
Lawson was second in the 3000 in 10:30.84. She had already hit the state standard so a top two finish got her to states. Lauren Roche was third in 11:00.12. Olivia Martinec was 11th in 11:48.17 and Taylor Farrell was 15th in 11:58.81.
In the pentathlon Gwen Zimmerman is eighth after three of the five events at 1,116 points.
In the girls’ 100 prelims Trinity Pegues-Coleman was 21st in 13.60.
Elianna Schneider was eighth in the 800 in 2:30.91 and Sadie Beres was 12th in 2:33.97.
Osa Uyinmwen was fifth in the 400 in 1:01.34 and Cassandra Howard was 13th in 1:04.09 with Aurora Jellif 15th in 1:04.17.
In the 100 hurdle prelims Paige Kesterson was sixth in 17.15 to make the final.
Sophia Cimo was 16th in the shot put at 29-feet followed by Ashley Tubbs at 28-feet, 2 1/2-inches.
Cella McLaughlin was 12th in the long jump at 14-feet, 4 1/2-inches.
